Getting started on the main screen

The main screen is your home base. You set everything up here — who's shooting, their chokes, and their gun calibration — and then choose a discipline, which loads it and starts your session.

Safety

Read this before anyone shoots. The same warning is shown on the main screen so it stays in front of everyone using the range.

Laser & firearm safety

This product uses an invisible (infrared) laser. Avoid direct eye exposure. Never look into the barrel and never point the gun at anyone.

Always make sure the gun is empty before and after using the simulator. Treat every gun as loaded until you have personally confirmed otherwise.

Is the system ready?

Two status lights in the top-right corner tell you at a glance whether the cameras are working. They should be green before you shoot.

Shot detection The camera that sees where your shot lands. Green means shots are being detected.
Barrel tracking The camera that follows your gun barrel. Green means your movement and mount are being tracked.

Light	What it means
Green	Working normally, ready to shoot.
Yellow	Working, but something may be interfering — for example a bright light source near the shot camera. Reduce direct light and it should clear.
Red	The camera isn't detected or can't communicate. Check that its USB cable is plugged in securely and in the correct port.

No tracker fitted? Some systems are delivered without barrel-tracking hardware. If that's your setup, the Barrel tracking light simply stays off — that's normal. Shot detection is the one that must be green.

If you unplug and re-plug a camera, the light recovers on its own within a few seconds; you don't need to restart TrueClays. If a light stays red after re-plugging, use Camera diagnostics in the Control panel.

Set up, then shoot

Do these in order. Everything gets ready on the main screen first, and the discipline you pick at the end is what actually loads and starts the session.

Select your shooters

In Squad layout, tap a Select shooter row to add a saved shooter. A squad can hold several shooters who take turns; the first appears at the top with their name. Tap the × next to a name to remove that shooter.

For deeper per-shooter settings — eye height, favourites, stand placement, cloud sync — open Configuration at the bottom of the squad panel.

Set each shooter's choke

Each shooter row shows the current choke set — for example IC / Mod, the under and over barrel. Use Change choke-set to pick a different combination. Each option shows a short description as you browse, so you can match your pattern to what you're about to shoot. Rest on the current choke to see the full description of the under and over constriction.

Calibrate the gun

Calibration lines up the laser in your barrel with where you're actually aiming. Do it once per shooter, per gun, using the three buttons on the shooter row:

Calibrate — a cross appears at your eye height. Mount the gun normally, cover the centre of the cross with your bead, and take the shots it asks for (it averages them). Take your time and redo it if you're not happy — good calibration is the foundation of accurate scoring. Press ESC to abort.
Test calibration — shows a target so you can check the result. Shoot it to confirm your aim lands where you expect, and recalibrate if it's off.
Pattern — shows your shot pattern, or how the pellets spread with your current choke and cartridge.

On a multi-screen range — wall and roof, for example — you calibrate each screen in turn. Follow the cross on whichever screen is active.

Choose a discipline to start

Once your squad is set, chokes chosen and guns calibrated, pick a discipline from the Disciplines panel. This loads the discipline and begins your session, so it's the last thing you do on the main screen.

If some disciplines look missing, that's normal — the list depends on your license. A compact license shows fewer options; a full or Ultimate license shows them all.

Leaderboard & configuration

Also in the squad panel.

View leaderboard (local) Saved scores and rankings for this system.
Configuration Opens the full settings screen: shooters, disciplines, cartridges, cloud, training aids, system options and more.
System configuration Collapsible strip below the squad Expands to system-level calibration and setup shortcuts.

The Control panel

A column of buttons at the bottom left for tools and housekeeping, plus a QR code.

Start local competition Sets up a scored competition on this system.
Switch to TrueHunt Jumps to the TrueHunt experience. This closes TrueClays and launches TrueHunt.
Messages Messages from TrueClays. It highlights when something new arrives.
Change log Needs internet Opens the release notes to see what's new.
Camera diagnostics Checks and troubleshoots the cameras. Start here if a status light won't go green.
About TrueClays Version and product information.
Exit TrueClays Saves your session data and closes the program.

Mobile remote control. Scan the Control-panel QR code with your phone to open a mobile control panel. It works as a remote for the system — running functions, choosing disciplines and more — and it's context-sensitive, adapting to wherever you are in the software. Handy for running a session without walking back to the console.

Updates & news

When the system is connected to the internet it checks for new versions. If one is available, a New version available message appears on the main screen — restart to pick it up. The News line and the Change log button take you to the release notes for details on what changed.

Offline? That's fine — you can shoot without internet. You just won't see update notices or release notes until you reconnect.

System information

Useful reference details sit around the edges of the screen.

System ID Your unique system identifier, for example A0A9AFB9. Have it ready when you contact support.
Version & license The installed version, your license type (Ultimate or Full, for example), and the projector refresh rate such as 240 Hz.
Cloud target (System ID) Bottom right A QR code linked to your system in the cloud for online features.
NVT: Active The Neurologic Visual Trainer — TrueClays' proprietary training methodology — is switched on for the current shooter. It applies across all disciplines.

Quick start

Confirm the gun is empty and your status light(s) are green.
Select your shooters.
Set each shooter's choke.
Calibrate each gun, then Test calibration to confirm.
Pick a discipline — this loads it and starts your session. Have fun.
