Updating TrueClays
The launcher runs before TrueClays every time. It checks for new versions, shows what has changed, and lets you update, repair, or start the program. This page covers what's on the screen, how updates work, your subscription, and what to do when something goes wrong.
What the launcher does
The launcher opens first, checks the TrueClays cloud for new versions, and shows you what has changed. If your system is already current, it starts TrueClays automatically after a short countdown — you don't have to do anything.
When an update is available, it waits so you can decide what to do.
What's on the screen
Everything you need is on one window.
- Region The download server nearest you. A closer region means faster, more reliable downloads.
- Release and Beta cards The latest stable version and the newest version. A card only appears when an update is available on that channel.
- Update & start TrueClays Installs that update, then launches TrueClays. This is the usual way to update.
- Start without updating Launches your current version and skips the update for now.
- Full release notes The complete changelog for the update.
- Currently installed The version you are running now.
- Updates expire date Your subscription status, shown by colour.
- Download repair (old) version Reinstalls an older, known-good build to fix a damaged installation. Not a normal update.
- Cancel Closes the launcher without starting.
Choosing your region
Use the Region menu at the top right to pick the server closest to you — Europe, North America, Pacific, Middle East, South America, or Africa (Cape Town). A nearby region makes downloads faster and more reliable, and your choice is remembered for next time.
If a download is slow or won't start, switching to a different region and trying again is often the quickest fix.
Release and beta
TrueClays comes in two channels. Both are safe to run — the card headings tell them apart, green for Release and purple for Beta.
- Release The stable version, tested and ready for everyday use. If you're not sure, choose this one.
- Beta The newest version, where new features land first. Betas are usually stable, and trying one is encouraged — tell us what you find at support@trueclays.com so we can improve the final release.
Updating the system
Choose the version
The green Release card for the stable version, or the purple Beta card for the newest. Each card lists a few highlights of what's changed.
Choose how to start
Update & start installs the update and then launches TrueClays — the usual choice. Start without updating launches your current version and offers the update again next time.
Let it finish
While it downloads you'll see "Download progress…" and then "Unpacking…" on the centre line. Leave the launcher open until TrueClays starts.
Your subscription
Your subscription covers free updates and support. The Updates expire date at the bottom of the window shows its status by colour: green is active, yellow means it expires within three months, and red means it has expired.
When it expires, the launcher shows a renewal panel. Scan the QR code with your phone, or select Purchase subscription, to renew. The current price and payment link are shown in the panel. After paying, restart TrueClays to re-activate updates.
You can still start and use TrueClays after your subscription expires — you simply won't receive new updates until you renew.
Repair (old) version
Download repair (old) version is a recovery tool, not a normal update. It reinstalls an older, known-good build to fix a damaged installation, and it is deliberately behind the latest version.
Use it only if TrueClays won't start or an update has left the install broken. For everyday updating, always use Update & start. After a repair, update to the latest release again straight away so you're back on the current version.
Installing add-ons (TrueDynamic & TrueDefence)
If your machine is licensed for an add-on product that isn't installed yet, the launcher asks whether to install it — for example, "You're licensed for TrueDynamic. Install it now?"
- Install Downloads and sets it up. This can take a few minutes.
- Not now Skips it for this session. The launcher will offer it again next time.
If something goes wrong

| The download fails, or a message says the file is missing | Wait a short while and try again, or switch to a different region. If it continues, contact support. |
| Stuck on "Synchronizing with Cloud", or the server can't be reached | Check your internet connection, then try a different region. |
| Subscription inactive | Renew from the panel (see Your subscription). You can still start TrueClays in the meantime. |
| An update has left TrueClays broken | Use Download repair (old) version to restore a working install, then update to the latest release again. |
