Trap expert panel

The expert panel holds every setting that changes how the trap range behaves during a session: background, light and weather, slow motion, replay, microphone, and the trap trainer that sets angle and height on all three throwers at once.

Opening and closing the panel

Open the panel from the expert button on the trap range. It appears as a dimmed overlay with two columns: range and environment settings on the left, trap trainer and session settings on the right.

Close it with Close in the footer or by pressing Esc. The panel also closes by itself when you start a training round or open gun calibration. Everything you change takes effect immediately — there is no separate apply step.

Buttons that switch something on stay highlighted in green while that setting is active. The highlights refresh a few times a second, so a setting changed from somewhere else in the program shows up here as well.

Range and clays

  • Flash clays Toggle

Makes the clays flash so they are easier to pick up against a busy background. Useful for beginners and for demonstrations.

  • Snow Toggle

Turns falling snow on and off. It changes the look of the range only; the clays fly the same way.

  • Night shooting Toggle

Switches the range to floodlit night: the sun is turned off, the spotlights around the bunker come on, and the sky goes black. Press it again to return to daylight.

  • Gun calibration

Closes the panel and opens gun calibration so you can check or reset the point of aim. It is ignored if a calibration is already running.

  • Slowmotion speed 10% to 100%

Sets the speed of the whole simulation. The selected step stays highlighted. 100% is normal speed; anything below it counts as slow motion and is shown as such in the session. Lower steps are good for showing a shooter where the shot string met the clay.

Backgrounds

Three controls choose what the shooter sees behind the clays. They work together: picking a named set or a free background overrides whatever was showing before.

  • Filter background on country

Narrows the named sets to one country. Leave it on All countries to see the full list.

    Argentina · Azerbaijan · Cyprus · France · Italy · Peru · Qatar · Spain · Sweden · United Kingdom · USA

  • Background (named sets)

Loads a complete, prepared range — terrain, sky and surroundings matched to a real venue. This is the normal way to change the range. The list starts on Select.., which does nothing until you pick a set.

  • Background (free selection)

Picks a single terrain or one of the photo backgrounds on its own, without the rest of a named set. Choosing here clears the named set selection.

Bunker

  • Toggle bunker color

Steps through the available bunker colours. Use it when the bunker blends into the background and the shooter loses the clay at launch.

  • Bunker front wall Toggle

Shows or hides the front wall of the bunker. With the wall hidden you can see the throwers work, which helps when explaining the machine layout.

Special training and sky

  • NVT Toggle

Turns on no-visual-target training: the clay is hidden for part of its flight so the shooter has to keep the gun moving on the line instead of chasing the target. An advanced drill — it makes a good shooter better and confuses a new one.

  • Toggle fog

Each press thickens the fog one step. After the densest step the next press clears it completely, so the button cycles from clear to heavy and back.

  • Toggle sun position

Steps the sun through five positions, from high overhead to low behind the stands. Use it to put the light where a shooter finds it hard, or to move a glare off the target line.

  • Toggle day sky

Switches the sky and clouds to the daytime set.

  • Toggle night sky

Switches the sky and clouds to the night set. Combine it with night shooting for a full floodlit session.

Trap trainer

The trap trainer sets the same angle and height on all three throwers and starts a training round from stand 3, where every shooter gets the same target again and again. It is the tool for drilling one specific target instead of shooting a full round of mixed ones.

1

Choose the thrower. Left, centre or right — this decides which of the three machines in the bunker throws the target, and therefore the direction it leaves the trap house.

2

Set the angle. The slider runs from −45° to +45°, with the current value shown next to it. Negative is left of centre, positive is right.

3

Set the height. Pick the height in metres, measured the ISSF way at 10 metres in front of the trap house. Higher values give a steeper, slower-looking target.

4

Press Start training. The panel closes, the stands are reset to their normal positions, the scoreboard and top list are cleared, and every shooter in the squad is given a fresh training round on the chosen target.

Angle and height are written to all three throwers, so the target is identical whichever thrower you select; only the machine position changes. To try a different setting, open the panel again, change the values and press Start training once more — the round restarts from scratch.

Starting a training round clears the current scoreboard and the top list. Finish and record a competition round before you use the trap trainer.

Replay and recording

  • Auto replay all Toggle

Plays a replay after every shot. Turning it off also turns off misses-only replay.

  • Auto replay misses only Toggle

Plays a replay only when the shooter misses. Switching it on turns on auto replay as well, so you do not have to press both.

  • Toggle tracerlines on replay Toggle

Draws the shot line in the replay so the shooter can see where the barrel was pointing in relation to the clay.

  • Disable microphone Toggle

Stops the microphone from releasing targets on a call. Use it in a noisy room, during a demonstration, or when the mic picks up a neighbouring lane. With the microphone off, targets have to be released the other way.

  • Stop at tracker start movement Toggle

Ends the recording at the moment the barrel starts to move, so the replay begins at the shooter's first movement instead of at the call.

Quick change shooter

The dropdown at the bottom of the right column switches to another shooter in the squad without leaving the range. Use it when someone shoots out of turn, or when you take a shot yourself to show something.

If something looks wrong

What you seeWhat to do
Everything runs in slow motion A slow motion step below 100% is still selected. Press 100% to return to normal speed.
The range stays dark after a night session Press Night shooting again to turn the sun back on, then Toggle day sky if the sky is still the night one.
Targets are not released when the shooter calls Check whether Disable microphone is highlighted. If it is, press it to switch the microphone back on.
Heavy fog you cannot clear Keep pressing Toggle fog; the last step clears it completely.
Picking a named set does nothing The list is still on Select.., or the country filter has hidden the set. Set the filter to All countries and pick the set again.
The scoreboard is empty after training Expected — starting the trap trainer clears it. Start a new round to record scores again.
Keyboard shortcuts stop working Close the panel with Close or Esc so the keyboard goes back to the range.
