Generic settings

Range-wide settings that shape every session for every shooter — how targets look, the weather and ballistics that decide whether a clay breaks, and how the range sounds. Set these once for your venue and they apply across all disciplines.

Where this fits

Open Configuration from the main screen, then the Generic tab. Unlike the Shooters pages, nothing here is per-shooter — these are global settings for the whole system.

Change anything and press Apply to save, Cancel to discard and return to the main menu, or Reset to restore the standard defaults.

Visuals

How targets and the environment look.

  • Flash clays Makes a broken clay flash for a moment, so hits read clearly at a distance.
  • Indicator lights after hit Shows a hit/miss light after each shot.
  • Worn throwers Adds natural variation to how throwers launch, as real, well-used machines do.
  • Clouds Draws clouds in the sky.
  • Randomize sky Picks a different sky each time, for variety.
  • Rotate sky Slowly rotates the sky through the session.
  • Allow nighttime Permits night skies in the rotation.
  • Simulate broken clays at throw (2%) Occasionally throws a clay that breaks on launch, mirroring the small rate of real breakages.

Replay

What extra guides appear when you watch a shot back.

  • Show aim indicator when playing replay Overlays where the gun was pointing during the replay.
  • Show tracerlines for clay at replay Draws the clay's flight path on the replay so it's easy to see the line.

Weather — wind

Wind pushes the clay in flight, so these settings change how much lead a target needs. Turn it up for a challenge, leave it calm for consistent practice.

  • Wind Master on/off Enables wind. With it off, the level and direction settings below have no effect.
  • Wind level Overall strength: Calm, Light, Moderate, Windy, or Storm.
  • Wind direction (0–359) The compass direction the wind blows from, in degrees.
  • Gusting Adds gusts on top of the steady wind.
  • Gust level Gust strength: Low, Medium, or Strong gusts.
  • Randomize wind direction on each throw Changes the direction every throw, so no two targets drift the same way.

Ballistics

The physics that decide whether a shot breaks a clay. These are the settings to leave alone unless you know what you're changing — they affect scoring directly.

  • Temperature (Celsius) Air temperature, which affects air density and how far shot carries.
  • Altitude (meters) Height above sea level — thinner air at altitude changes pellet travel.
  • Clay color The default target colour: Orange, Brighter Orange, Bright red/yellow, Yellow, Pink, Red/White, White, or Black. A shooter's own clay-colour override, if set, takes precedence.
  • Shot simulation model Legacy or Default 2025+ Which ballistics model computes the pellet cloud. Default 2025+ is the current model; Legacy matches older behaviour for venues that want it.
  • Minimum force required for hit How solidly a clay must be struck to count as broken. Higher values demand a more central hit. A shooter's own minimum-force override, if set, takes precedence.

These affect scores for everyone. Temperature, altitude, shot model and minimum force change how hits are judged across the whole range. Change them deliberately, and use Reset if a session starts scoring in a way you don't expect.

Audio

How the range sounds, and how the microphone behaves after a shot.

  • Hit/Loss sound indicator Plays a sound telling you whether the shot hit or missed.
  • Use thrower sounds Plays a machine sound when a clay is launched.
  • Thrower sound type Which machine to imitate: Matterelli, Nasta/Lahti, Laporte/Bidwell, Beomat, Serena Marte 300, or Promatic.
  • Thrower base sound level The volume of the thrower sound.
  • Use 3D/Stereo sound Positions sounds in space so a thrower to your left sounds like it's on your left.
  • Suppress microphone after shot With a "Time to suppress" slider Briefly ignores the microphone after a shot so the report of the gun isn't picked up as a second call. The slider sets how long the mic stays suppressed.

Quick start

  1. Open Configuration → Generic.
  2. Set the visuals and replay guides to taste.
  3. Dial in wind for the challenge you want — or leave it Calm.
  4. Leave ballistics at defaults unless you have a reason to change them.
  5. Pick thrower sounds and set mic suppression, then press Apply.

Generic settings user guide. These are system-wide and apply to every shooter and discipline. Per-shooter overrides for clay colour, minimum force and similar live on the shooter's profile and take precedence over the values here. Use Reset to restore defaults; contact TrueClays support with your System ID for help.
