Training aids

Coaching tools that overlay the range — visibility aids, the Neurological Visual Trainer, a recoil simulator, reaction training, and squad-rotation timing. These are system-wide settings that shape how everyone trains, on top of each shooter's own profile.

Where this fits

Open Configuration from the main screen, then the Training tab. Settings here apply range-wide. Where a shooter's profile has its own override — for HALO or NVT, for example — the shooter setting takes precedence over what's here.

Change anything and press Apply to save, or Cancel to discard and return to the main menu.

Visibility aids

Make targets easier to see and track — useful for beginners or difficult light.

  • Use HALO Draws a visibility halo around the clay so it stands out against the background.
  • HALO size How big the halo is: Small, Medium, or Large.
  • Clay size Scales the target from 70% up to 160% of normal — larger to make targets easier, smaller for a harder challenge. A shooter's own clay-size override, if set, wins over this.

Neurological Visual Trainer (NVT)

NVT is TrueClays' proprietary training method. The controls here set its global defaults; fine-tuning happens per station, per shooter, on the NVT page.

  • Enable NVT Turns the trainer on system-wide. A shooter's NVT override can still switch it on or off for that individual.
  • Streak duration How long the target's visual streak lingers.
  • Hidden duration How long the target is hidden during the NVT sequence.
  • Restoration time How quickly the normal view is restored afterwards.
  • Jitter Adds movement to sharpen visual focus.
  • Sway intensity & sway speed How far and how fast the view sways, together shaping the difficulty of holding focus.

Per-station tuning lives elsewhere. These are the defaults every shooter starts from. To set trigger distance and compression for a specific stand and shooter, open the NVT page (/nvt) — those per-station overrides take precedence over the defaults here.

Recoil simulator

Adds a physical recoil effect after the shot, for a more realistic feel.

  • Use recoil simulator Turns the recoil effect on.
  • Recoil simulator time How long the recoil effect lasts after each shot.

Reaction adjustment

A training aid that adjusts for the shooter's reaction, letting you tune how the system responds relative to when they actually react.

  • Reaction adjustment Enables the reaction-based adjustment.
  • Reaction level The strength of the adjustment.
  • Reaction frame count How many frames the adjustment is measured over — finer control over its timing.

Squad rotation

Simulates shooting in a squad by pacing turns — a wait between your shots, as if others were shooting between them.

  • Squad rotation Master on/off Enables the simulated squad wait. With it off, the settings below have no effect.
  • Shooters in squad How many shooters to simulate (1–6) — more shooters means a longer wait between your turns.
  • Wait time (min / max) The shortest and longest wait between your shots, in seconds. The actual wait varies between the two for realism.
  • Cue How your turn is signalled: an Audible cue or an on-screen Screen countdown.
  • Mic delay How long the microphone waits before it will accept your call again, from 1.0 to 10.0 seconds.

Quick start

  1. Open Configuration → Training.
  2. Set HALO and clay size for the visibility you want.
  3. Enable NVT and set its defaults — fine-tune per station on the NVT page.
  4. Turn on recoil, reaction, or squad rotation if you're training those.
  5. Press Apply.

Training aids user guide. Settings are system-wide; per-shooter HALO, clay-size and NVT overrides on the shooter profile take precedence, and per-station NVT tuning lives on the NVT page. Contact TrueClays support with your System ID for help.
